The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed the incident, which occurred approximately 38 nautical miles northeast of the strategic bunkering hub. According to maritime security analysts, the vessel—identified by industry sources as the Honduras-flagged fishery research ship  Hui Chuan —was at anchor when it was boarded. Following the seizure, the vessel reportedly altered course toward Iranian territorial waters and ceased transmitting its Automated Identification System (AIS) data.
