A critical water shortage at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has compelled doctors to suspend all surgical cases with immediate effect, raising serious concerns about patient safety and healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region. The drastic measure was taken due to the persistent lack of water, which has severely hampered the hospital's ability to maintain sterile conditions essential for surgical procedures. The Komfo Anokye Doctors Association, in a memo dated March 25, 2025, officially announced the suspension, citing the paramount importance of patient safety and security. The memo emphasized that the ongoing water crisis poses significant risks, including increased susceptibility to infections and complications during and after surgery. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the resumption of its teacher recruitment process after successfully addressing the concerns related to the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). In a letter dated October 31, 2024, the Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah, informed all Regional Directors of Education that the updated master list now reflects only qualified candidates. As a result, the recruitment process will recommence on November 7, 2024 , and is set to conclude by November 9, 2024 .
