Venezuelan President Appears in U.S. Court After Arrest on Drug Charge

NEW YORK — Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has appeared before a United States federal court following his recent arrest and extradition, according to reports from international media outlets. Maduro was transported under heavy security to a federal courthouse in New York for an initial court appearance. The development marks a rare and significant moment in international criminal proceedings involving a sitting head of state. Background to the Case U.S. prosecutors accuse Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking and related criminal conspiracies. The charges stem from indictments first announced several years ago, alleging that senior Venezuelan officials participated in large-scale cocaine trafficking operations targeting the United States and other international destinations. AHAFO REGIONAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE LAMENTS ABOUT THE LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE EDIFICE






The director of the Ahafo  regional education directorate has called on authorities to aid them in what she described as complete lack of relevant facilities and infrastructure for the directorate. She made the call during the Regional Reading Festival at Acherensua Senior High School in the Ahafo Region. Metro tv's Ahafo Regional Correspondent Ibrahim Abode, went there filled and this report.



The Ahafo Regional Education Director Ms Lucy Ama Ankra has appealed to able organisations to come to the aid of the directorate to get relevant furniture to furnish the office. She mentioned that, though the directorate is an infant one, it  lacks relevant facilities and logistics to operate. She said when assisted, the directorate would achieve it's major aim.

She added that, due to the "back to school" campaign iniatiated by the government, many youth who dropped out of school in that area due to teenage pregnancy has returned back to their various schools. She applauded the government for the program and called on all Ghanaians to support it in order for young girls return to school after child birth. The back to School program was initiated  by government to help students who dropped out school due to pregnancy, to return back. 



Meanwhile the Asunafo NAT chairman Mr Ofori Mensah Christian has called on the government to help fast track the payment of salaries of the newly recruited teachers. He mentioned that, Teaching and learning cannot move on smoothly if a teacher is in a class with empty stomach.


The Ahafo Regional Reading Festival was climaxed by some dignitaries, traditional leaders, parents as well as Teachers. 

Awards were given to the various competitors after the completion of the entire  program. Meanwhile, some of the children who partook in the event expressed their delight over it and promised to do better in subsequent events.
