U.S. ICE Names Ghanaian Nationals in ‘Worst of the Worst’ Deportation Campaign Alongside Surrounding Legal Debates

  ACCRA  — The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have publicized specific details regarding several Ghanaian nationals targeted for removal under the agency's high-profile "Worst of the Worst" enforcement campaign. The initiative, which publicly highlights the arrests and deportations of non-citizens, focuses heavily on individuals categorized by U.S. authorities as having committed serious or violent offenses. According to official data released by ICE, the named Ghanaian nationals face a range of charges spanning multiple states. The individuals and the specific offenses listed by U.S. immigration enforcement include: Edward Sarpong  (Arrested in Charleston, South Carolina): Burglary and selling synthetic narcotics. The Municipal chief executive for the Nkoranza South Municipal Hon Daniel Owuredu has  called on the people of the area to stay calm and count on the President promise of getting the police return to duty in the area. The police Service vacated post after the death of one Albert Donkor that also led to a bloody protest leading to the death of another one person.



In may this year, protesters besieged the Nkoranza Police station and vandalized property and also discharged suspects who were in police custody. In line with this, the inspector general of police Akuffo Dampare visited the area to mediate peace between residents and the police. Subsequently, police withdrew their services in the area and residents had to travel to Techiman and other places to make official complains.


The traditional leadership of the Bono area visited president Akuffo in late August 2022 at the flag staff house and a complain was laid to the President about the situation. The President then promised the traditional leaders that, police would return to the area. Some residents have however expressed anxiety over the delay in the return.

However, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Nkoranza South Municipality Hon Daniel Owuredu have called for calm among residents as they wait on the return of the police officers. He added that, the commander in chief of the arm forces has promised and residents should trust the process.
