Venezuelan President Appears in U.S. Court After Arrest on Drug Charge

NEW YORK — Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has appeared before a United States federal court following his recent arrest and extradition, according to reports from international media outlets. Maduro was transported under heavy security to a federal courthouse in New York for an initial court appearance. The development marks a rare and significant moment in international criminal proceedings involving a sitting head of state. Background to the Case U.S. prosecutors accuse Maduro of involvement in drug trafficking and related criminal conspiracies. The charges stem from indictments first announced several years ago, alleging that senior Venezuelan officials participated in large-scale cocaine trafficking operations targeting the United States and other international destinations.  Bono East: Farmers Applaud The Government For The Increment Of Crop Yields 

The concerned farmers of maize and beans  in the Bono East Region have applaud the current government for increasing the price of their commodities over a decade.

These farmers are within the 11 farming  districts including Nkoranza north and south,Atebubu Amantin,Techiman north and south,Kintampo north and south,Pru west and East ,Sene west and East.

During media engagement with these farmers over ten years in the administration of the ndc at the era of professor Evans Fiifi Attah Mills and John Dramani Mahamah,the price of their commodities such as maize and beans will remained constant and sometimes dwindling at the market centers whereas making agricultural business unaccessible and unprofitable.

They said, more of the crops cultivated but in all at the end of the day more will be supplied but less income will be demanded from the market centers which these  ouput derived cannot be use to afford what  they expect in their daily activities as farmers.



Addressing their grievances in agric business,the farmers lamented the current government has assisted them in achieving their goals in farming, they said over  a years ago one bag sack full measured of maize was between Gh70.00 cedis and Gh200.00 cedis respectively.


But now in indefatigable facts, they can say that the Akuffo and Npp Administration for over 8years in governance has aided them making farming attractive and more profitable in which the price of the commodities jumped to Gh 1,000 cedis as current price gate

.

The farmer added though, there is global economic crisis, but they can say that this incremental has currently, even purchasing the crops at the market either one bag of maize or beans can get them  10bags  or 35/34 bags of cements for putting up buildings and to reduce their burdens.

However, as the national democratic congress manifesto issued on September,2024 which outlined that the next Government under John Mahama will rollout agriculture and economic transformation, these farmers are challenging the president elected to fulfill his promise in making Agri business more profitable and standard. They said    the immediate past administration had achieved in farming in terms of adjusted the price and also looking forward for next government to settle more on reduction in farm inputs such as fertilizers ,   consistently adjustment of the price of the commodities.
