On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, the 15-year-old had completed exactly twelve months since leaving Ghana to build a new life with his father in the Bronx. By the next morning, that life was over—ended by a burst of gunfire on a residential street, just blocks from the apartment he shared with his father and the school where he was a tenth-grade student.   A Morning Walk, An Ambush   Shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, Javits was walking to DreamYard Preparatory School, an 18-minute commute he made daily.
