Man Electrocuted While Allegedly Stealing Earth Wire at ECG Substation in Kumasi

A young man in his late thirties has died by electrocution while attempting to steal an earth wire at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) substation in Adoato, near the Metro Mass Transit Station in Greater Kumasi. The unfortunate incident occurred today, Saturday, April 19, 2025, and resulted in a power outage affecting several areas.

According to authorities, the deceased was part of a group reportedly involved in frequent cable thefts in the Ashanti Region. This issue of increasing cable theft has become a growing concern in the area.
