GES Reinstates Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in Pre-Tertiary Schools Nationwide

  Accra, Ghana – July 17, 2025  – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the full reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools across the country. This directive comes from His Excellency, the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama. In a press release issued today, the GES stated that this move is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and involvement of parents, communities, and teachers in the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners. In line with this directive, the Management of GES has instructed all Heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM Schools to operationalize the reinstatement of PTAs with immediate effect. The GES further indicated that detailed guidelines outlining the structure, roles, and financial accountability mechanisms for the effective functioning of PTAs will be issued in due course. Missing Forestry Guard Found Dead in Oti Region

Nkwanta South, Oti Region – The community of Tutukpene in the Nkwanta South Municipality is in shock following the discovery of the body of a missing 37-year-old forestry guard, Daniel Obeng. His remains were found in a bush, bringing a tragic end to a week-long search.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Kwabena Asiedu, the Divisional Police Commander for Nkwanta South, confirmed the grim discovery to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). Obeng had been missing since July 4, 2025, prompting a determined manhunt involving the police, forestry officials, and concerned community members. His body was finally located on July 11.

Mr. Christian Obeng, the distraught father of the deceased, informed GNA that his son had already been laid to rest in his hometown, Guama, in the Jasikan Municipality.

The Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the forestry guard's untimely death. Authorities are hopeful that the findings of this investigation will shed crucial light on what led to his tragic demise and provide answers to a grieving family and community.

GES Resumes Teacher Recruitment After Resolving GTLE Issues

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the resumption of its teacher recruitment process after successfully addressing the concerns related to the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). In a letter dated October 31, 2024, the Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah, informed all Regional Directors of Education that the updated master list now reflects only qualified candidates. As a result, the recruitment process will recommence on November 7, 2024 , and is set to conclude by November 9, 2024 . The GES has instructed recruits, particularly those from the College of Education, to report to their respective regional education offices during this period with the following documents: original appointment letters and valid identification .
