Missing Forestry Guard Found Dead in Oti Region




Nkwanta South, Oti Region – The community of Tutukpene in the Nkwanta South Municipality is in shock following the discovery of the body of a missing 37-year-old forestry guard, Daniel Obeng. His remains were found in a bush, bringing a tragic end to a week-long search.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Kwabena Asiedu, the Divisional Police Commander for Nkwanta South, confirmed the grim discovery to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). Obeng had been missing since July 4, 2025, prompting a determined manhunt involving the police, forestry officials, and concerned community members. His body was finally located on July 11.

Mr. Christian Obeng, the distraught father of the deceased, informed GNA that his son had already been laid to rest in his hometown, Guama, in the Jasikan Municipality.

The Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the forestry guard's untimely death. Authorities are hopeful that the findings of this investigation will shed crucial light on what led to his tragic demise and provide answers to a grieving family and community.
