The community of Mempeasem has been plunged into profound sorrow following the tragic discovery of a young lady, who had been reported missing for several days, found lifeless in a nearby plantation farm.



The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Akua Mensah, a beloved resident and student at a local tertiary institution, was last seen on the evening of July 15, 2025. Her family reported her missing to the Mempeasem Police Station on July 17 after she failed to return home and her phone was unreachable.

A widespread search effort was immediately launched by the police, aided by community volunteers and local youth. The search, which covered various parts of Mempeasem and its environs, tragically concluded on the morning of July 20, 2025, when Akua's body was discovered by a farmer deep within a secluded plantation farm on the outskirts of the community.

Police have cordoned off the scene, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding Akua’s death have commenced. While details remain scarce, authorities have assured the public that every effort will be made to ascertain the cause of death and bring any perpetrators to justice. The body has been transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The news of Akua's death has sent shockwaves through Mempeasem. Family members, friends, and neighbors have expressed their devastation, remembering Akua as a vibrant, kind-hearted, and ambitious young woman with a promising future. Community leaders have called for calm and urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community safety and vigilance. The Mempeasem community, while grieving, remains hopeful that justice will be served for Akua Mensah.
