US–Israel Launch Major Military Operation Against Iran

A dramatic escalation has unfolded in the Middle East after the United States and Israel initiated coordinated military strikes on Iran, marking one of the most significant confrontations in the region in recent years.

Trump Announces “Major Combat Operations”

US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces have begun what he described as “major combat operations” targeting Iran. According to his statement, the objective is to neutralize what he called “imminent threats” posed by the Iranian government and its military capabilities.

The announcement followed earlier Israeli strikes, suggesting a coordinated campaign between Washington and Tel Aviv aimed at strategic military and intelligence targets inside Iran.

Explosions Reported Across Tehran

Multiple explosions were reported in Iran’s capital, Tehran, with witnesses describing heavy blasts and smoke rising from different parts of the city. Iranian state media acknowledged that several locations had been hit, though the full scale of damage and casualties remains unclear.

Some reports indicate that areas near key government and leadership facilities were among the initial targets, signaling a high-level strategic intent behind the operation.

Israel Frames Strikes as Pre-Emptive

Israeli officials stated that their actions were pre-emptive, aimed at dismantling perceived threats linked to Iran’s missile and nuclear programmes. The operation reportedly focused on military infrastructure, intelligence centers, and weapons systems.

Authorities in Israel immediately implemented emergency measures, including closing airspace, suspending civilian activities, and preparing for possible retaliation.

Rising Tensions Over Nuclear Programme

The strikes come after months of heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The United States and its allies have repeatedly accused Iran of advancing its nuclear capabilities beyond agreed limits, while Tehran insists its programme is for peaceful purposes.

Recent diplomatic efforts to revive negotiations had stalled, further deepening mistrust between the parties involved.

Iran Responds With Warnings

Iran has condemned the attacks and warned of retaliation. Officials have previously indicated that any military action against the country could trigger responses targeting US bases and allied interests across the region.

In the immediate aftermath of the strikes, Iran reportedly shut down its airspace and restricted communications, while neighboring countries also took precautionary measures.

Regional and Global Implications

The unfolding conflict has raised fears of a broader regional war, with significant implications for global security, oil markets, and international diplomacy.

Airspace closures, military alerts, and disruptions to civilian life are already being felt across parts of the Middle East. Analysts warn that the situation could escalate rapidly if retaliatory attacks occur.

Uncertain Path Ahead

As the situation develops, the international community is closely monitoring events, with calls for restraint and renewed diplomacy growing louder. However, with military operations now underway, the path forward remains uncertain.

The coming hours and days are expected to be critical in determining whether the conflict expands or moves toward de-escalation
