DUBAI / ABU DHABI — The security landscape in the Gulf has shifted into a high-alert phase this week as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) actively interceptedu multiple incoming projectiles launched from Iran. This military escalation follows a direct exchange of hostilities between United States forces and Iranian units, marking a significant breakdown in regional stability.

The Sequence of Events

The current friction ignited earlier this week after the U.S. Navy conducted operations to secure international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. Following those "traded blows," Iran launched a series of retaliatory strikes involving ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
