Traffic Snarl on Accra-Kumasi Highway as Low-Bed Truck Breaks Down

DUAMPOMPOM, GHANA —Commuters on the bustling Accra-Kumasi highway faced significant delays today after a low-bed truck carrying a large excavator broke down at Duampompom, near the Anum Apapam junction. The incident, which occurred early this morning, caused a massive traffic jam, stretching for several kilometers in both directions. According to eyewitnesses, the truck suffered a mechanical failure, rendering it immobile and blocking a significant portion of the road. With the large excavator on board, the vehicle created a major obstacle, making it difficult for other motorists to navigate the already busy highway. Police and officials from the Ghana Highway Authority were quickly dispatched to the scene to manage the traffic flow and work on removing the broken-down vehicle. They have been directing traffic and are attempting to clear the road to restore normal traffic flow. Four officers sacked at National Security Ministry over Caleb Kudah’s assault

Nsiah Obed May 21, 2021Read original Four officers have been sacked from the Ministry of National Security after an investigation established that their conduct during the arrest of a Citi FM report, Caleb Kudah , “was inappropriate and contravened the standard operating procedures” of the ministry. The Director of Operations at the National Security, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman, and three police officers have been fired from the ministry and been asked to report at their original detachments for further investigations. “The secondment of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Agyeman (Director of Operations) at the Ministry has been reversed. The officer is to report to the Chief of Defence for further investigations and appropriate action.” Three other police officers involved in the assault have also been withdrawn and instructed to report to the Ghana Police Service for investigation. This came to light after some of them showed signs of the disease and the Speaker, Alban Bagbin made it compulsory for all MPs to take Covid-19 test, especially in view of the recent Covid-19 deaths. According to the report, the eight confirmed cases are split equally among both majority and minority sides but their names were not mentioned for fear of stigmatisation. The outcome of the test among the few members who have gone through the exercise prompted the Speaker to issue a ‘fatwa’ against those who are unwilling to take the Covid-19 test. Reports say less than a third of the membership of the House have so far taken the test.
