Tragedy strikes Kyekyewere: Husband dies in fatal debt dispute.



Kyekyewere, Ashanti Region – A somber mood has enveloped the community of Kyekyewere following the tragic death of a man who was reportedly struck with a shovel during an altercation over a debt. The incident, which occurred last night, has led to the apprehension of a suspect.

The deceased's wife, a woman in her 30s who recently returned from her village, recounted the harrowing events. She explained that her husband had owned a tricycle, which he had previously entrusted to a rider who worked for him. This rider later ceased working with the tricycle.



According to the widow, the rider had been demanding ₵400 that he claimed her late husband owed him. "He called me to ask for the money," she stated, "and I asked him to give us some time since money is tight."

The situation escalated dramatically last night. "I returned from a wedding ceremony to meet the gentleman on our doorstep demanding his money," she recalled. After she asked him to calm down, "he, the rider, picked a shovel and struck my husband in the forehead, resulting in a struggle."

Bystanders intervened to separate the two men. However, they soon realized the husband was severely injured. He was rushed to the hospital but was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police have since apprehended the suspect in connection with the incident. The community of Kyekyewere is left grappling with the sudden loss, as investigations into the full circumstances of the tragedy continue.
