  ACCRA  — The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have publicized specific details regarding several Ghanaian nationals targeted for removal under the agency's high-profile "Worst of the Worst" enforcement campaign. The initiative, which publicly highlights the arrests and deportations of non-citizens, focuses heavily on individuals categorized by U.S. authorities as having committed serious or violent offenses. According to official data released by ICE, the named Ghanaian nationals face a range of charges spanning multiple states. The individuals and the specific offenses listed by U.S. immigration enforcement include: Edward Sarpong  (Arrested in Charleston, South Carolina): Burglary and selling synthetic narcotics. A young man who is believed to be in his early 20s is alleged to have killed 3 women at Tampaala in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region Of Ghana. It is reported that he committed the crime using a pounding pestle.

According to sources, the incident happened yesterday at about 7pm on Tuesday evening. It is not clear what triggered that cannibalism but some have pointed fingers at the mental health of the victim.


 The bodies were conveyed to Jirapa for medical examination and confirmation after which they were released to the bereaved families for mourning and burial.


Police sources have confirmed the sad incident to the media. According to them, the suspect is currently in Police Custody whilst investigation continues.


Meanwhile an eight month old baby who was at the back of the mother also sustained injuries and is currently on admission receiving treatment at the St. Joseph Hospital in Jirapa. Residents of the area says they are devastated by the incident and indicated they have been thrown into shock and mourning.


The regional police commander Dcop peter Ndekugri confirmed the tragic incident to the media and indicated investigations are underway to ascertain truth of the matter.




Issues of similar murder cases has increased in the country in recent times. In June this year, a farmer in Tepa, Ashanti murdered two women in cold due to little disagreement between families.


A similar case happened few weeks in the national capital Accra, where a suspected mentally challenged person stoned a young man to at the circle overhead. The woman was picked by police and body taken to the mortuary. However, the police is yet to officially update the public on that matter.


Measures need to be developed to help curb incidence of this nature in the country.  The psychiatric department as well as the security service can put heads together in order to place a measure or measures that prevent barbarism of this kind.
