7-Year-Old Rescued After Going Missing at Washington Campsite

In a heartwarming turn of events, a 7-year-old girl who had gone missing from a campsite in Washington state was safely rescued thanks to a local fisherman who heard her cries.

Shelby Wolff had been camping with her grandparents at Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway in Clark County when she disappeared on Sunday evening. Despite an extensive search by deputies and local residents throughout the night, Shelby remained missing until early the next morning.

The search intensified on Monday as sheriff’s marine patrol and major crimes units joined the effort. The campsite access was temporarily closed while the search continued.

Around 8:45 a.m. on Monday, a fisherman in the area heard cries for help coming from a steep shoreline section and promptly called 911. Marine patrol officers swiftly reached the location, retrieved Shelby, and transported her back to the boat dock, where she was joyfully reunited with her family.

Sheriff’s officials believe Shelby may have become disoriented after slipping and falling into some bushes. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured and was examined by medical personnel at the scene.

Shelby’s sister, Cammy Wolff, shared the good news on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the support and prayers from the community. “Thank you to everyone who reached out and prayed for us during this time. We love you all,” she wrote.

The sheriff’s office also extended their thanks to the volunteers and community members who played a crucial role in the search effort.

This incident highlights the incredible teamwork and community spirit that came together to ensure Shelby's safe return.
